The idea
Obstacle Remover is what Elyxium does.
We turn obstacles into possibilities. These two little games let you feel it: Bad Thoughts against good thoughts, and every hit flips a fear into its opposite. The banter is the point.
Two cabinets, one game
Pick your cabinet.
The same game, built twice, decades apart. Arcades grew up, and so do ideas: that’s what we work on every day.

Retro
Obstacle Remover
1985: crazy, junky, loud.
Robot-voiced Bad Thoughts, 8-bit blasts, and a big audit ship that throws receipts at you.

Modern
Obstacle Remover
Today: calm, cinematic, unstoppable.
A soothing voice cheers you on while the Bad Thoughts talk like a corporate phone line. They lose the argument.
Best on a computer with a keyboard: arrow keys to steer and thrust, space bar to fire. Touch controls work too.

Why we made this
I’m a kid of the ’80s. I spent half my life in these darn machines, so it’s pure fun to dream up our projects as if there were a parallel world where these cabinets already exist. Healing Quest lives on your phone and Sushi Empire on your computer (Dr Patch could go anywhere), so none of them were meant for an arcade, but imagining them in cabinets is half the fun. I also know the little voice that shows up right before you start something: too late, too risky, who do you think you are? So we made a game where you get to shoot that voice. Bad Thoughts against good thoughts, with plenty of jokes in between. It’s silly on purpose: if it makes you laugh at your own doubts for a few minutes, it did its job.
